The debut CD/EP of Lil’ Keesha is a collection of 6 songs that showcases the amazing vocal abilities of Lil’ Keesha, a teenage, high school honor student, titled (what else?) — “The Prodigy.” The CD starts off with the 1978 Oscar, Grammy Award winning song, “Last Dance”, which was a #1 hit record for disco diva Donna Summer. A music critic from radio station KPFK 90.7 fm in L.A. said this: The first single from teenage, Lil’ Keesha’s appropriately

Summer’s biggest hits, was written by Paul Jabar, and ably produced
by Samm Brown III, (Michael Jackson, Maxine Nightingale).
The remake of the classic #1 pop/disco track is true to the original version, but that’s where the similarities between this 2006 remake and the 1978 original end. Lil’ Keesha’s explosive 4 octave range is on full display here and is evident with the opening 2 bar riff that shadows the original but then repeats full out, an octave higher. From there it is a hellacious, fun romp with her vocal pyrotechnics leading the way. The song ends with her incredible voice soaring in a dramatic glissando, to an octave higher than the Summer original. You’ll be shaking your head in disbelief. You’ll just have to hear it to believe it. “Anxious” is an original song that is an interior thought balloon of a young girl who is smitten by a guy her girlfriend introduces her to, but doesn’t want to be too “Anxious”. “Heaven Knows”, is a ballad in the tradition of Mariah Carey, and Celine Dion that further showcases Lil’ Keesha’s legitimate 4 octave range. On the infectious “U Drive Me Crazy”, Lil’ Keesha is joined by up and coming rapper T.H.U.M.P. who represents the not always reliable and exasperating boyfriend, that frequently stands her up but then “says” — he’s in love with her. She can’t seem to break away from his “just a smile and a wink of your eye”...because she’s in love too. It drives her so crazy!! “In The Corner Of My Eye” and the beautiful and cleverly arranged a cappella medley of “When You Wish Upon A Star” and “Over The Rainbow” both put an exclamation on the statement made by drive time DJ Jason Endicott, of KHTS 1220 am radio, who said after hearing her at a radio station sponsored vocal talent contest (of course she won): “Lil’’ Keesha raises the bar for all new singers everywhere!” Amen.
